Black Mamas ATX

Our work centers around the health and wellbeing of Black women who are pregnant and through the first year postpartum.

Generational Impact

Black mothers are the backbones of their families and supporting their health and well-being positively changes outcomes for generations.

SERVING BLACK MOTHERS IN CENTRAL TEXAS SINCE 2018

Black Mamas ATX is made up of researchers, social workers, policy makers, public health professionals and community activists and consists primarily of Black women that have survived their own pregnancy and child birthing traumas.

The collaborative team is taking a holistic approach to improving access and outcomes, from unpacking the systemic sources of racism in our healthcare systems to delivery home visits for Black mothers located in Central Texas.

DID YOU KNOW?

Black women are 2.3 times more likely to die from childbirth-related causes.

27% of Black women in Texas haven’t seen a doctor in the last year.
